Activities and Attractions

A genuine Central Otago town, Roxburgh is the heart of the scenic Teviot Valley. Located only 1.5 hours from Dunedin, Wanaka and Queenstown allowing for some fantastic day trips.

Famous for producing a wide variety of delicious fruits – cherries, apricots, plums, nectarines, peaches, pears and tasty crisp apples. In summer, fresh fruit, sauces, jams, pickles, juices, vegetables and plants can be purchased directly from the abundant roadside stalls.

The Roxburgh township is located on the banks of the mighty Clutha River which boasts some of the best salmon fishing in New Zealand. Surrounding lakes are well stocked with Brown and Rainbow trout and Lake Roxburgh is the ideal spot for watersports – kayaking, jetboating, water skiing and sailing.

Roxburgh hosts many activities varying from a challenging 18 hole golf course, 4WD tracks, movie theatre, biking and several walks ranging from the leisurely town walk to a rewarding hill climb on the Bullock Track, which offers a spectacular vista of the Teviot Valley. There are plenty of historic locations to be found and enjoyed.

A visit to Roxburgh would not be complete without trying one of our world famous Jimmy’s Pies.
